Brazilian collaboration between Présence Suisse and the Montreux Jazz Festival
From 25 May to 5 June, a collaborative project of Présence Suisse and the 50th Montreux Jazz Festival combines a residency and concerts, with at its heart the reunion of Naçao Zumbi and the Young Gods in Rio and São Paulo…and then in Montreux this summer!
The Brazilian culture has been making hearts beat at the Festival for years. In the framework of the two-year Swissando program (2014-2016) for the promotion of the image of Switzerland in Brazil, organized by Presence Switzerland, a unit of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, a collaborative project with the Montreux Jazz Festival seemed obvious given the deep relationship between the Festival and Brazilian music. The concept of these Swiss-Brazilian encounters is not only for a tour to several cities in Brazil, but also to extend these ties in front of the public at the 50th edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival. Therefore, after the concerts by Nação Zumbi and the Young Gods in São Paulo at the Ciné Joia (26 May) and at the Circo Voador in Rio de Janeiro (27 May), the two bands will assemble on July 9th on the free stage of Music in the Park. This will be just one day before the colossal event already programmed for the Auditorium Stravinski on July 10th, and which will bring together the very best of multiple generations of Brazilian music.
