The University of Kansas Jazz Ensemble I, winners of multiple DownBeat Student Music Awards as one of the world's top collegiate jazz ensembles, present their 2018 European Tour program. Appearing with the band will be internationally acclaimed vocalist Deborah Brown. With 16 recordings as a leader and appearances in more than 50 countries around the world, Deborah has established herself as one of the greatest jazz vocalists of our time. In addition, the band will be performing highlights from their recent flamenco/jazz project "Palos Nuevos" which was performed at the Kennedy Center in April 2018. Composed by the ensemble's director Dan Gailey, "Palos Nuevos" features Steve Leisring, KU Professor of Trumpet, and Brandon Draper, KU Professor of Jazz Drums and Percussion.
