Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood are back in Montreux, close to 20 years after the Radiohead concert at the Festival! Completed by Tom Skinner (the brilliant drummer of Sons of Kemet), the mysterious trio has been making itself known little by little for the past year. The three tracks available so far are simply breathtaking in their mastery and contrasts, between the clever groove of ‘The Smoke’, the raging post-punk energy of ‘You Will Never Work in Television Again’ and the mournful arpeggios of ‘Skrting on the Surface’ – a track that has long remained in the Radiohead archives. On stage, their performances exude an infectious joy of playing. Alongside Tom Skinner’s expert drumming, that ranges from the mechanical, the jazzy to the Afro, Thom and Jonny take turns playing bass, guitar or keyboards, depending on the song. All of this is performed with a sense of risk and urgency at all times.
