Mr GISCARD
His name is Monsieur Giscard. He’s never been a centrist, nor a president, and he certainly hasn’t developed a taste for diamonds. But as his first name is Valery, there was a time when when his interlocutors asked him the nature of such a masculine first name, the young man used to reply: “Valery? Like the President”. As a result, it almost naturally became a compound name, and so it has remained. Gonflé is also a way of attributing an identity card to oneself, attesting to a desire to put distance and difference into everything. Monsieur Giscard, unlike his illustrious republican king, has a lot to live up to with this first five-track musical program, which could well provoke a velvet revolution in the world of French chanson.
