Following the success of its first edition last year, the Montreux Jazz Festival’s winter residency will once again be bringing its vibes to the resort of Villars-sur-Ollon. On the programme: six emerging artists to discover at the Théâtre du Villars Palace on the weekends of 9-10 February, 16-17 February and 1-2 March 2024. DJ sets will open and close each evening in the hotel bar. Tickets are available now.
Last winter, the Montreux Jazz Festival brought its MJF Spotlight project to Villars, after taking its sessions to London, Hamburg and Zurich. The Festival is repeating the experience in the Théâtre du Villars Palace, with a programme as up to date and eclectic as ever, featuring pop, rap, soul and instrumental music.
The Festival’s programming team has selected six of the most promising international artists of the moment:
- Tony Ann (09.02), Canadian pianist with heady, melancholy melodies
- Marguerite Thiam (10.02), French singer with tortured lyrics and lo-fi productions
- Yamê (16.02), Franco-Cameroonian singer, rapper and pianist whose unclassifiable style has created a buzz as far afield as the United States
- MarÃa José Llergo (17.02), Spanish singer drawing on the flamenco tradition
- Holly Macve (01.03), folk singer who has collaborated with Lana Del Rey
- Victor Ray (02.03), a powerful soul singer who first hit the streets of London before racking up millions of streams.
