Born and raised in Geneva by a Cameroonian mother and a Swiss father, Afri Kara has been immersed in the music of Central Africa, as well as Jazz, Classical music and Hip-Hop. Initially enamoured of music and fascinated by the worlds it created (video clips and album covers), this interest then extended to concerts and the history of music. Afri Kara passes on his discoveries, his classics and his favourites. For him, mixing is a political and poetic act, and he makes this statement by playing mostly sounds from the black diasporas.

Afrobeat, Amapiano, Hip-hop, Soul, Funk, House, R&B and Disco are just some of the tones his sets can take on (All Groovy Style). His aim is to discover new musical universes as well as rediscovering those already known. Since 2020, he has performed at a number of clubs and festivals in Switzerland, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon.
