Gainsbourg, Melody & More, presented by Maison Gainsbourg

Running time: 45 minutes (looped)

Screening of Melody (1971, 28 mins), a short film directed by Jean-Christophe Averty, starring Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. Both dreamlike and experimental, Melody is a visual presentation of all seven tracks on Serge Gainsbourg’s album Histoire de Melody Nelson.
The screening is complemented by a selection of archive videos chosen by the Maison Gainsbourg team in partnership with INA.

After more than 32 years of anticipation, the Maison Gainsbourg has established itself as a key cultural venue in Paris, dedicated to the transmission of Serge Gainsbourg’s work, since its opening in September 2023. Conceived and led by his daughter Charlotte, this project offers a plunge into the heart of the artist’s creative and personal universe.

The Maison Gainsbourg offers a visitor experience at two sites on rue de Verneuil in Paris (7th arrondissement):

  • 5 bis: the historic house in which Serge Gainsbourg lived for 22 years, a legendary interior preserved intact since his death in 1991.
  • Opposite, at number 14: a museum retracing the life and career of the artist, a bookshop and the Gainsbarre, a café and piano bar, to extend the visit.
