Rylsee, whose real name is Cyril Vouilloz, is a Berlin-based Swiss artist who has forged his reputation and skills through a variety of art forms. From graffiti to graphic design, hand lettering and an avant-garde approach to typography, the Genevan has explored a vast spectrum of artistic disciplines. He draws inspiration from everyday life, the city and his passion for skateboarding, always with the aim of making people smile.
A Berlin-based artist from Geneva, Rylsee is a keen observer of the MJF, which he got to know both as a festival-goer and by accompanying his father, a former Festival employee, behind the scenes. In almost 60 years of postering Montreux, Rylsee is the first to focus his work on festival-goers and the way in which this great popular festival takes over the city. While the music is certainly present, the poster’s main role is played by the myriad of characters and their various adventures.
