Miss B
Anglo-Italian Beatrice Venturini, ‘Miss B’, has been active on the London soul/jazz/funk scene since the 1980s. After working with Gilles Peterson and Eddie Piller in the early days of Acid Jazz Records in 1989, she went on to collaborate with groups such as the James Taylor Quartet, the Brand New Heavies & Jamiroquai. She went on to help set up the UK’s first jazz radio station, Jazz FM, where she worked for many years as a presenter, producer and music researcher. She has mixed in famous London clubs such as The Jazz Café and The Blue Note, as well as on Jazz FM in London, Radio Capital & Rai Radio Due in Milan, and released several compilations on the Irma Records label. She has lived in Lausanne for more than a year, and is still very active in the music and DJ-ing scene, being one of the organisers of the Lausanne soul/funk festival HOLY GROOVE. Musical direction: swinging jazz, soul, r’nb, funk, boogie and all things groovy.
