Esteban Rey
Energy and enthusiasm are part of the package when it comes to Esteban Rey. He embodies a permanent ritual that celebrates life. This Venezuelan singer, who has lived in Europe for over 15 years, creates music that takes us on a magical journey of realism.
A journey in which we walk the streets of Latin America, have a drink in a Mexican cantina, sit in the mountains of the Andes or end up immersed in the blue of the Caribbean Sea, through sounds and rhythms that speak of only one thing: fusion.
For over a decade, he led the Chamito Sound project and performed throughout Europe. He has also taken part in numerous festivals, and has had the honour of sharing the stage or opening for artists such as Amparanoia, Che Sudaka, Hindi Zahra and Manu Chao.
Now Esteban Rey is back with his new musical project, in which electric rock guitars and pop music combine harmoniously with tequila-infused Mexican mariachi. The result is a feeling of nostalgia, while the keyboard melodies invite us to join in a party where life is celebrated with all its ups and downs.
This is the concept behind his new album, Bitácora de un Sueño. Recorded in Mexico City with various regional musicians, he has managed to capture this mix in 8 songs that are a journey through feelings, flavours and colours. The release tour kicked off on 24 March 2024 at the Konzerthaus Schuur in Lucerne and will visit various Swiss cities, ending in October with several performances in Guadalajara and Mexico City.
Esteban Rey has a single mission: to connect with his audience and allow hearts to recognise themselves, as he himself puts it. His music invites listeners to immerse themselves in a world of emotions, stories and varied sounds.
