Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets

Swiss exclusivity

On 21st November 1970, hippies from all over Europe gathered for Pink Floyd’s concert at the Casino de Montreux, organised by Claude Nobs. More than 50 years on, Nick Mason’s appearance echoes the event in more ways than one. As well as making a symbolic return to the Casino, the band’s drummer and co-founder will be revisiting virtually the same repertoire. His Saucerful of Secrets project focuses on the band’s early years, from 1967 to 1972. This prolific and highly psychedelic period spanned seven albums, including Syd Barrett’s masterpiece The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Atom Heart Mother (with its iconic portrait of a cow) and the legendary ‘Echoes’ from Meddle. For this project, Nick Mason has surrounded himself with a group of exceptional musicians, including Gary Kemp (guitarist and co-founder of Spandau Ballet) and Guy Pratt (a Pink Floyd collaborator since 1987). On stage, Mason and his Saucerful of Secrets manage to explore their own freedom of interpretation while brilliantly reviving the original spirit of Floyd.
