Roshâni
ROSHÂNI, “light” in Farsi, is a bold fusion of styles in an “alternative electronic dance” music, combining tropical, psychedelic cumbia, rock and oriental disco in Farsi, Spanish and French. This collision of styles gives rise to an alternative electronic pop music, sometimes Afro-dancehall, sometimes tropical, mixing cumbia rhythms, reggaeton and Berber ternary rhythms.
The project originated with Roxane Dumont, a guitarist and singer from Geneva, who crossed paths with Inès Mouzoune in 2022, a talented bassist, keyboardist and music producer. Together, their music takes on a new dimension, blending the captivating groove of Inès’s riffs with Roxane’s raspy vocals. Yavor Lilov, percussionist, accompanies them in concert.
Their Persian, Moroccan and Bulgarian roots, plus an unconditional love of telenovelas, make Roshâni an irresistible trio of eclectic fuego. Their debut single ‘REINAS’, released in March 2023, has generated a lot of enthusiasm, with notable performances at festivals and as support acts for artists such as Sevdaliza,
Derya Yildirim and Grup Şimşek, l’Eclair and Lalalar. Their debut EP, due in June 2024, kicks off with the release of ‘Donya Do Roozeh’ on 16 February, echoing the great Iranian singer Googoosh. Alongside the new label Stone Pixels Records, they are making their mark on today’s music scene with a vengeance.
