Meyer Sound and Le Montreux Jazz Festival

A sound system is a music festival’s heart. In 1986, Claude Nobs asked Meyer Sound to transform the festival’s listening experience and ever since then the two institutions have collaborated with a single goal: to give audience and artists the best musical experience by reproducing the music flawlessly, with no coloration or distortion, and with maximum power.

Nobs met John and Helen Meyer in the 1970s when John served as director of the acoustics laboratory at Switzerland’s Institute for Advanced Musical Studies. Inspired by their mutual love of music, a friendship grew. That initial friendship was the root of one of the longest and strongest sound partnerships in the music business.

Activations

At every stage of the festival, Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeakers provide the audiences with exceptional listening experiences. Meyer Sound’s technical team is integrated into the festival team and is on site to assist festival engineers, enabling them to make the most of the sound systems.

This year, some of the festival stages are new as the venue layout shifts to accommodate retrofitting of the Auditorium Stravinski. The Meyer Sound team worked alongside the festival audio team to ensure that quality sound will continue to be a hallmark of the Montreux experience.

On the Market Place stage, Meyer Sound’s latest technologies —including the PANTHER large-format linear line array loudspeaker and the 2100-LFC low-frequency control element —will be showcased at the 2024 festival. The festival returns to the Casino for the first time in more than a decade. Here the Meyer Sound LINA very compact linear line array will be featured.

On the Super Bock stage, LEOPARD compact linear line array will be powering the experience while LINA will be featured at Lisztomania and Ipanema will feature more compact solutions with a JM-1P arrayable loudspeaker system.

Other sound showcases include the successful lake house with its Memphis Club, Archives in the Cinema. For an incredible vinyl listening experience, the Meyer Sound Bluehorn System, breakthrough technology in full bandwidth, phase accurate monitoring, is featured in the library in partnership with Nagra. A passionate music lover leads this curated, high-fidelity experience that is not to be missed.

Explore all the stages that will be spread along the Lake Geneva shoreline for an exceptional sonic experience. Music fills the air from 11am through to 2am daily, for the duration of the two-week festival.
