Workshop by MJAF: Sampling The World with Arthur Henry & Julien Fehlmann (IRMA)

In Sampling the World, award-winning musician Arthur Henry presents global cities through masterful audiovisual art pieces. He travels the world to collect sounds and images and artfully shapes captivating video clips that become immersive virtual city tours through a musical prism. But international work can pose tricky questions, not least ethical ones. To this end, Arthur has partnered with the Swiss NGO IRMA to understand if and how Sampling the World could leave a positive impact where it goes. In this workshop, Arthur and IRMA’s director Julien Fehlmann will share their experience so far as well as plans for the future.

Arthur Henry is an award-winning musician (twice a Swiss loop station champion) and a gifted audiovisual producer. After a successful run with his band Koqa Beatbox, he returned to a solo career focusing on his widely acclaimed project Sampling the World (https://arthur-henry.com).

Julien Fehlmann is the operational director of the NGO IRMA (www.irma.ac). An International Relations graduate, he is also a music producer, an audio expert, and the founder of the recording facility Studio Mécanique (www.studiomecanique.ch).
